Prayer of Confession<\/h3>\n

God, penetrate those murky corners where we hide memories,
\nand tendencies on which we do not care to look,
\nbut which we will not yield freely to you,
\nthat you might purify and transmute them.
\nThe persistent buried grudge,
\nthe half-acknowledged enmity which is still smouldering;
\nthe bitterness of that loss we have not turned into sacrifice,
\nthe private comfort we cling to,
\nthe secret fear of failure which saps our initiative
\n     and is really inverted pride;
\nthe pessimism which is an insult to your joy.<\/p>\n

Lord, we bring all these to you,
\nand we review them with shame and penitence
\nin your steadfast light.<\/p>\n

Through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen!<\/p>\n
