Great and marvelous are your deeds,
\n      Lord God Almighty.
\nJust and true are your ways,
\n      King of the nations.
\nWho will not fear you, Lord,
\n      and bring glory to your name?
\nFor you alone are holy.
\nAll nations will come
\n      and worship before you,
\nfor your righteous acts have been revealed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

 
\nI was working on some lyrics based on this passage from Revelation 15:3-4<\/a> when I discovered something curious. <\/p>\n

The phrase “King of the nations” in verse 3<\/a> is sometimes translated as “King of the ages” or alternatively as “King of saints”.
\n <\/p>\n

As we cross the threshold of another year, what a comfort to know God is King – of the nations, of the ages, of the saints.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

A prayer<\/h3>\n

Lift up our hearts, O Christ,
\nabove the false shows of things,
\nabove laziness and fear,
\nabove selfishness and covetousness,
\nabove whim and fashion,
\nup to the everlasting Truth that you are;
\nthat we may live joyfully and freely,
\nin the faith that you are our King and our Saviour,
\nour Example and our Judge,
\nand so long as we are loyal to you,
\nall will ultimately be well.
