A prayer of adoration and confession<\/h3>\n

inspired by Matthew 7:7-11<\/a>, Luke 11:1-13<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

Seeking One,
\nyou are the beginning and the end of our search.
\nFinding One,
\nyou are the alpha and omega of all discovery.
\nAsking One,
\nyou are the voice and the silence of our exploration.
\nGiving One,
\nyou are the fullness and the emptiness of all yearning.
\nPersistent One,
\nyou never abandon your search for us,
\nnor tire of our repetitive to-ings and fro-ings.
\nReceiving One,
\nyou endlessly welcome us home,
\nand spread before us a feast
\nin the face of our constant requests for mere morsels of bread.<\/p>\n

Search us, O God,
\nand find within us the secrets we hide.
\nAsk us, O God,
\nand receive from within us the pain we bear.
\nKeep knocking at the door of our lives
\nuntil we open our wills to your purpose,
\nour lives to your life, and our yearning to your hope.<\/p>\n

When we forget to seek you and discover that we have lost our place:
\nLord, have mercy.
\nLord, have mercy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When we ask once and leave it at that:
\nChrist, have mercy.
\nChrist, have mercy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When we draw back from knocking, lest we disturb you:
\nLord, have mercy.
\nLord, have mercy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Strengthen our courage; bolster our endurance;
\nspur us onward in your way in our world
\nthrough the power of the Holy Spirit
\nand the name of Christ.
