Call to Worship<\/h3>\n

(inspired by Psalm 81)<\/em><\/p>\n

Sing aloud to God our strength and shout with joy:
\nGod, our Host, welcomes us. <\/strong>
\nGod reminds us,
\n\u201cI brought you out of the land of Egypt and fed you along the way.\u201d
\nWhen we opened our mouths, God filled us with good things.<\/strong>
\nGod calls us to walk the path of faithfulness, trusting the promise:
\na feast for all —
\nfreshly-baked bread, hot from the oven,
\nand sweet honey to satisfy our hunger.
\nLet us worship God!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fruity teabread (Recipe)<\/h3>\n

Note: This recipe calls for patience<\/span><\/p>\n

Makes one 1 kg loaf<\/em><\/p>\n

300ml  cold tea
\n175 g  raisins
\n125 g  sultanas
\n50 g  soft brown sugar<\/p>\n

1 egg
\n225 g  wholemeal plain flour
\n1 1\/2  t  baking powder
\n1\/2  t  mixed spice<\/p>\n

 
\nPlace the dried fruit and the sugar in a large bowl.
\nPour over the tea and allow to soak overnight<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Grease and line a 1.6 litre loaf tin. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C.
\nBeat the egg into the fruit and sugar mixture. Add the flour, baking powder and spice and mix well with a wooden spoon, making sure all the ingredients are well-combined. Spoon into the prepared loaf tin and level the top with the back of a spoon. <\/p>\n

Bake in the over for about 75 minutes until firm and well risen. <\/p>\n

Turn out the tin and leave to cool on a wire rack. When cooled, wrap and store for a day or two<\/span> before eating.<\/p>\n
