Prayer of Confession<\/h3>\n

inspired by Jeremiah 6:13-16<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

O Lord,
\nAll around us people cry \u201cpeace\u201d when there is no peace.
\nHow can there be peace
\nwhen voices are silenced, people suffer, and rights are denied?
\nHow can there be peace
\nwhen bombs are falling, countries are at war, and justice is denied?<\/p>\n

O Lord,
\nAll too often we are the ones who cry \u201cpeace\u201d when there is no peace.
\nHow can there be peace
\nwhen people around us are lonely, stereotyped, and abused?
\nHow can there be peace
\nwhen our own nations use violence in the pursuit of peace?<\/p>\n

O Lord,
\nWe confess our brokenness.
\nWe confess our complicity.
\nWe confess our contentment with \u201cpeace\u201d
\nthat is only about our own personal well-being.<\/p>\n

O Lord,
\nDraw us to yourself, that we might live in your grace and pardon.
\nChallenge us to see through false declarations of \u201cpeace.\u201d
\nEmpower us to be peacemakers.<\/p>\n

O Lord,
\nWe stand at the crossroads and look.
\nShow us the ancient paths, where the good way lies.
\nGive us the courage to walk in it,
\nthat all may find rest for their souls. Amen.<\/strong><\/p>\n
