You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father\u2019s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Thomas said to him, \u2018Lord, we don\u2019t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Jesus answered, \u2018<u>I am the way<\/u> and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.\u2019<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>John 14:1-7<\/p>\n<h3>I wonder<\/h3>\n<p>Is that why the early Christians were known as \u201cPeople of the Way\u201d?<br \/>\n(see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Acts+9%3A2%3B+19%3A9%2C+23%3B+22%3A4%3B+24%3A14%2C+22&#038;version=NIVUK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Acts 9:2; 19:9, 23; 22:4; 24:14, 22<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Saul of Tarsus &#8211; a radical young Rabbi &#8211; played an active part in persecuting followers of the Way until Jesus appeared to him on the Road to Damascus (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=acts+9%3A1-18&#038;version=NIVUK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Acts 9:1-18<\/a>) and he had a change of heart and became a follower of the Way too. Through his missionary journeys and letters he touched many lives and communities and the movement spread, even to this day.<\/p>\n<h3>Digging deeper<\/h3>\n<p>Read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Acts+16%3A16-40&#038;version=NIVUK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Acts 16:16-40<\/a> about Paul and Silas&#8217; night in a Philippian jail. Imagine you are one of the other prisoners. What can you tell about \u201cPeople of the Way\u201d from what you witness that night?
