Hosea 6:1-6  (NIV UK)<\/span><\/h3>\n

1<\/sup> \u2018Come, let us return to the Lord.
\n     He has torn us to pieces
\n            but he will heal us;
\n     he has injured us
\n            but he will bind up our wounds.
\n2<\/sup> After two days he will revive us;
\n            on the third day he will restore us,
\n            that we may live in his presence.
\n3<\/sup> Let us acknowledge the Lord;
\n            let us press on to acknowledge him.
\n     As surely as the sun rises,
\n            he will appear;
\n     he will come to us like the winter rains,
\n             like the spring rains that water the earth.\u2019
\n4<\/sup> \u2018What can I do with you, Ephraim?
\n             What can I do with you, Judah?
\n     Your love is like the morning mist,
\n            like the early dew that disappears.
\n5<\/sup> Therefore I cut you in pieces with my prophets,
\n            I killed you with the words of my mouth \u2013
\n            then my judgments go forth like the sun.
\n6<\/sup> For I desire mercy, not sacrifice,
\n            and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.<\/p>\n

Reflection<\/h3>\n

This faith of ours is not about whether the cups and plates are washed right, or whether the correct procedural hoops have been negotiated; or whether we have \u201cgone through channels\u201d. It is about love – and love is risky and messy and disruptive and scary.<\/p>\n

Prayer<\/h3>\n

Lord, you have no interest in the externals of religious practice and procedure \u2013 why did we ever think you had? With you, Lord it is all about the heart. Set my heart right with you \u2026 keep my heart right with you. Amen.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
