Paging through it &#8211; the first time in years &#8211; I found this meditation inspired by the rising process where the yeast &#8220;breathes out&#8221; carbon dioxide that is trapped in the dough, expanding and so transforming it.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:200px;\"><em>\u201cThe kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and hid in a large tub of flour until it made all the dough rise.\u201d<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew+13%3A33&#038;version=NCV\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Matt 13:33b<\/a>, NCV)<\/div>\n<h3>Rising<\/h3>\n<p>Here in the bowl<br \/>\nis warmth and time to rest.<br \/>\nThe dough is set apart and covered.<\/p>\n<p>Here in the bowl<br \/>\nthe rising starts<br \/>\nand creeps up the sides<\/p>\n<p>reaching into time,<br \/>\ninto space &#8230; into possibility.<br \/>\nDreams are like this,<\/p>\n<p>full of air,<br \/>\ngoing ahead of us,<br \/>\nwanting to take us<\/p>\n<p>beyond the rim<br \/>\nof our horizon,<br \/>\nwanting to lift us out<\/p>\n<p>of where we are.<br \/>\nDreams are like this &#8230; unfolding<br \/>\na moment at a time,<\/p>\n<p>expanding us, breathing us,<br \/>\ndemanding something new,<br \/>\nwanting to take shape.<\/p>\n<p>This is also dangerous<br \/>\nfor there are dark dreams, terrible<br \/>\ndreams. And the ones where<\/p>\n<p>love asks the impossible from us.<br \/>\nCan this be the restlessness<br \/>\nof God?
