\nI’m currently embarked on a 100-day project to declutter my house, every nook and cranny. In one of the boxes I found some lyrics by Cara Taylor<\/strong>, then aged 14 (now all grown up and a mother of two). Cara’s song is entitled, Creation’s song<\/em>, and is loosely based on Genesis 1<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The chorus is particularly evocative, depicting God singing creation into being:<\/p>\n

I am singing, singing creation’s song
\nBreathing life upon this new-born world,
\nI’m shaping flowers and trees,
\nmaking rivers and seas,
\nI’m singing creation’s song<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

 <\/p>\n\n

 
\nTo accompany Cara’s lyrics, here is a “Liturgy of Creation” that picks up on this theme, and expands it to include more of God’s creative expressions.<\/p>\n

Liturgy of Creation<\/h3>\n

(based on Genesis 1)<\/em><\/p>\n

In the beginning, all was darkness
\nand God said, \u201clet there be light,
\nand because God had said it,
\nthere was light.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nand God sang the song of creation,

\nand because God laughed,
\nthe waters took up the roar and the ripple of it;
\nand ebbed and flowed and seeped and swirled
\nand delighted in the ways of its being.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nand because God painted,
\nthe sky became blue, and purple, and pink,
\nand rainbows hung there.
\nThe grass became green
\nand flowers and butterflies danced in the drips
\nand settled like jewels on the earth.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nand because God breathed,
\nmen and women woke up from their sleeping,
\nthey breathed of the very life of God
\nand stood in wonder before the work of God\u2019s hands.

Nature tales<\/h3>\n

While visiting the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh in early spring, I had the privilege of having a robin perch on my knee. <\/p>\n

I also spent a delightful few minutes watching a tiny bird with hardly any tail dart in and out of a tree with dangling fronds (a Betula Pendula ‘Tristis’<\/a>), as it foraged, collecting titbits (animal? vegetable?), hopping, skipping, dangling and fluttering to keep its balance. Magnificent!
