Luke 23:33-43 (NIV)<\/em> The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, \u201cHe saved others; let him save himself if he is God\u2019s Messiah, the Chosen One.\u201d<\/p>\n The soldiers also came up and mocked him. They offered him wine vinegar and said, \u201cIf you are the king of the Jews, save yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n There was a written notice above him, which read: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.<\/p>\n One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: \u201cAren\u2019t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!\u201d<\/p>\n But the other criminal rebuked him. \u201cDon\u2019t you fear God,\u201d he said, \u201csince you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n Then he said, \u201cJesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.\u201d<\/p>\n Jesus answered him, \u201cTruly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.\u201d
\nWhen they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals\u2014one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus said, \u201cFather, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.\u201d And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.<\/p>\n
