Prayer of Lament<\/h3>\n

inspired by Psalm 77: 1-20<\/em><\/p>\n

God, we call out to you!
\nFrom the depths of our hearts, we cry,
\n\u201cLord, hear our prayer!\u201d<\/p>\n

We are consumed by grief.
\nThe events of the past few days have overwhelmed us \u2014
\nit\u2019s hard to sleep,
\nit\u2019s hard to eat,
\nit\u2019s even hard to pray.<\/p>\n

Where are you, God?<\/p>\n

Deep down, we know that you love us \u2014
\nwe\u2019ve experienced your mercy and your faithfulness in the past,
\nand it has sustained us through many difficult times.
\nWe refuse to believe that you have deserted us,
\nor that you are unaware of the pain that we\u2019re feeling.
\nAnd so we turn to you again,
\nlonging for your presence,
\nlooking for your comfort and peace.<\/p>\n

Surround us with your unfailing love.
\nRemind us that you alone are God,
\nand that you hold us in the palm of your hand.
\nGive us courage and strength to face the days ahead,
\nand strengthen us in the knowledge that we do not face them alone.<\/p>\n

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Lord, we pray.<\/p>\n

Amen.<\/p>\n
