Did you know?<\/strong>  
Last Sunday – the first Sunday after Easter – was celebrated in some churches as Holy Humour Sunday<\/a> (also known as Bright Sunday, or Laughter Sunday).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Here is a prayer to the God of merriment by Bruce Prewer<\/strong> to launch the theme for May:

\nJ<\/span>O<\/span>Y<\/span>F<\/span>U<\/span>L<\/span>!<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Prayer<\/h3>\n

God of merriment,
\nfor whom the morning stars sing together
\nand all the children of God shout for joy,
\nhelp us keep our sense of humour.<\/p>\n

When those around us get hyped-up
\nabout the latest scientific discovery or technological wizardry,
\nhelp us to see the comical side of human self importance.<\/p>\n

When we take ourselves too seriously,
\nas if the church were built on our devout efforts,
\nenable us to chuckle at our folly.<\/p>\n

When evil parades itself in finery and thinks it owns the world,
\nor when untimely death appears to cut off saints in their prime,
\nfill us with the robust joy of Easter.<\/p>\n

God of \u2018solid joys and lasting pleasures\u2019,
\nbecause of all your victories in Christ Jesus,
\nliberate us to share in the song of the morning stars
\nand the joyful shouts of the children of God.
\nToday and forever more. Amen! <\/p>\n
