Did you know? Cecil Frances Alexander’s hymn, “All things bright and beautiful” (published in 1848), was inspired by the words, Maker of heaven and earth<\/em>, from the Apostle’s Creed. I’ve included the lyrics and a video below.<\/p>\n

But first, an intergenerational story of creation (Genesis 1-2) from the Kairos Canada website<\/a> told in gestures and words. May it brighten up your day.\n<\/div>\n

The Story of Creation<\/h3>\n

In the beginning, the world was dark, and there was no shape.<\/strong>
\n(Put hands over eyes and shake head “no.”)<\/em><\/p>\n

God moved over the water.<\/strong>
\n(Move arms left to right in front of body.)<\/em><\/p>\n

Then God spoke and said, “Let there be light.”<\/strong>
\n(Cup hands around mouth.)<\/em><\/p>\n

And there was light!<\/strong>
\n(Arch hands over head like you are making a big sun.)<\/em><\/p>\n

And God said, “This is good!”<\/strong>
\n(Make a \u201cthumbs up\u201d sign.)<\/em><\/p>\n

God separated the day from the night.<\/strong>
\n(Push arms away from sides of body.)<\/em><\/p>\n

God separated the heavens from the earth.<\/strong>
\n(Push one arm up and one arm down vertically away from body.)<\/em><\/p>\n

God separated the water from the land.<\/strong>
\n(Push arms away from front of body as if pushing something away from you.)<\/em><\/p>\n

And God said, “This is good!”<\/strong>
\n(Make “thumbs up\u201d sign.)<\/em><\/p>\n

God made plants to grow.<\/strong>
\n(Squat down, put hands and arms together over your head, and slowly stand upward and reach high.)<\/em><\/p>\n

God made the stars at night.<\/strong>
\n(While hands are still high over head, open hands and fingers wide, and wiggle fingers.)<\/em><\/p>\n

And God said, “This is good!”<\/strong>
\n(Make \u201cthumbs up\u201d sign.)<\/em><\/p>\n

God made the fish in the sea, and the birds in the air.<\/strong>
\n(Put hands together, fingers closed, and move them like a fish tail swimming; then put arms out at sides and flap like a bird.)<\/em><\/p>\n

And God said, “This is good!”<\/strong>
\n(Make “thumbs up” sign.)<\/em><\/p>\n

God made animals on the land.<\/strong>
\n(Let children imitate different animals they know–bunnies hopping, dogs barking, etc.)<\/em><\/p>\n

And God said, “This is good!”<\/strong>
\n(Make “thumbs up” sign.)<\/em><\/p>\n

Then God made people in God’s own image.<\/strong>
\n(Smile and point to self, then look to heavens.)<\/em><\/p>\n

God said to the people, “Take good care of my world!”<\/strong>
\n(Point finger and shake it in front, as if shaking it at someone.)<\/em><\/p>\n

And God said, “This world is good!”<\/strong>
\n(Make “thumbs up” sign and have all say “This is Good!\u201d)<\/em><\/p>\n
